Today we took a train from Rome to Cascina (a small town in Tuscany). It took about four and a half hours to get there. Our AirBnB was close to the train station, and was styled after the 70’s with a dark carpeted living room (the carpet went right up the walls and across the ceiling), a record player, tube tv, rotary phone, and funky fabrics and furniture. After we got settled in, we went to a local restaurant to have some supper.

Today we went to Pisa. It is a town with the famous Leaning Tower. We took so many pictures – almost too many!!! Pictures of just the tower and many pictures of us doing funny things, like trying to hold up the tower, cast a spell on it, and push it over.

At first we were at a different angle, so I said,”It’s not even tilted that much!’’

Then we went to a different angle and it was so tilted I was scared it was going to fall over.

We found a little kind of marketplace with lots of little souvenir shops but we didn’t buy anything. Then because my mom’s foot hurt so much, we took a bus back to the house then we kind of chilled around for the rest of the day. There really wasn’t much to see in Pisa besides the tower.

Today we took a train to Florence, a city where there is a big bridge with shops lining it and a hill overlooking the city. We first walked along the river until we turned to get to the hill.

We walked up the hill and about halfway up, we saw a sign for a rose garden. Mom had read about it being nice, so we went in. There were still some roses in bloom.

We continued to the top of the hill where there was a giant square with vendors and great views of the city.

We back down the hill because we were starting to get hungry. We found a pretty good pizza place with ginormous pizzas. We didn’t know how big the pizzas would be, so we ordered two. Good thing we were hungry!

The bridge with shops in it was busy. All the shops had jewellery in them. There was also a wedding. I didn’t even know it was a bridge until we were halfway across!

We were going to go into Cathedral of Santa Maria del Fiore, but the line stretched for about half a kilometre, so we decided not to.

Wonderful pictures! Love the pics of Pisa and also of Florence. Jenn, what is wrong with your foot?!

We didn’t get to go to Pisa, chose Florence. We saw the Duomo, the Church with the golden doors, had lunch in a palace and, of course w3nt over the bridge with all the expensive shops. We were in the museum and saw David. There is so much to see there and we only had the one day. You have seen so much and your pictures are brilliant. Hope your foot is better, Jenn. Take care and God bless. Great grandma.
