Charlotte:
This morning we said “ciao” to our home in Vietri-sul-Mare and boarded the train to Napoli (Naples). Then we transferred to another train to get from Napoli to Rome.

When we got to Rome, we checked into our hostel, got a map of the area, and then we went to the metro to see some sites and take a long walk.

We saw lots of cool fountains. We walked along Via del Corso where there were lots of shops. Then we went to Piazza Colonna, a square with a very big pole with lots of hieroglyphics on it.

Next, we walked to the Trevi fountain to see one of the most popular fountains in Europe. At the fountain, you are supposed to get a coin, turn your back on the fountain, and throw it over your right shoulder and that means you will return to Rome in the future. We all did it. I think I will come back here someday.

Sam:
We continued exploring a bit and found a shop we had read about called Bartolucci, which is famous for its wooden toys, especially Pinocchio.

By this time, we were all hungry, so we looked for a restaurant. We found one called Achille Al Pantheon. We then ate some pasta for supper with some bruschetta, then kept walking towards the Pantheon.

On the way we got some gelato and when we got to the Pantheon, we met a couple from Florida named Melissa and Jim who took our photos and we took theirs. Mom and Dad talked with them for awhile. They were very nice people. We then walked back to our hostel for the night.

I threw a coin into the fountain but never made it back to Rome. I will have to see it through documentaries and through your eyes. Italian gelato is so good. Did you get to the Forum and the Collesium? A lovely city. Take care. Great grandma.
