Searching for Rembrandt

Amsterdam

Sam:

When we woke up in the morning we went to a place called the Rijksmuseum. It is a museum about art and history. Charlotte and I got to do the electronic learning scavenger hunt. We had to search for all of the letters to complete a puzzle.

Charlotte:

In the museum, there was a scavenger hunt for kids that brings you to places so you could do activities about the different exhibits. For example, when we found a really large painting by Rembrandt, we had to play an electronic game to win a letter. At the end of the scavenger hunt, we had a total of 9 letters that we had to unscramble to find the code word. I won’t tell you the answer because you may get a chance to play it yourself someday!

Art historians and restorers are scanning The Night Watch by Rembrandt millimetre by millimetre with a big machine.
Miniature silver pieces
More tiny silver candles and lamps
Famous Dutch artists
The Milkmaid by Vermeer

When we finished the scavenger hunt, we went downstairs to the gift shop to get a prize. Sam and I both got a quill (it was actually a pen, but it looks like a quill). I got a blue one and Sam got an orange one.

Sam:

After we were done in the museum, we decided to go to get some lunch which was some toasties (which is grilled cheese) and walk around for a bit.

We love looking at all of the houseboats in the canals.
The Flower Market

We came back home on the bus and we decided to go to a nearby bakery. It was only 3 minutes away so we decided to get a bunch of baked goods to have later. We had them after a dinner of cheese, bread, and fruits and veggies.

  1. Tulip bulbs would be the big sellers at the flower market. I would have loved the museum, especially the ship models.
