Fact or Fiction?

Loch Ness

Sam:

We left from St Andrews to go on a 3 ½ drive to a place you might have heard of… Loch Ness. As we drove around the lake, we tried to search for Nessie, but no dice.

At the North end of the Loch, we decide that if we couldn’t find Nessie ourselves, we should look for experts. We found an exhibition that told us all about the Loch Ness monster.

Some of the things we learned were that the ways they liked for Nessie changed according to the decade. For example, a person went diving in a diving bell, another tried to lure Nessie, scientists used sonar, telescopes, cameras, and more. We also learned there have been many sightings but no one has ever gotten a clear photo and descriptions on how the monster looks and acts are quite different. Some people think its like a pleiosaurus, while others think it looks more like a sea serpent.

It was a pretty cool exhibition, overall, and I would recommend visiting it. I believe there might be a Nessie, and if there is it is probably a reptile adapted to the cold water in the Loch.

Charlotte:

I believe the Loch Ness monster is real because lots of people have seen it and I don’t think that many people would tell the same lie. I think Nessie is cute and kind and maybe green or black. At the gift shop, I got a cute, fuzzy Nessie stuffie that I named Lucas Nestor Veenvliet, “Luke Ness” for short.

After that, we went to a castle called Urquhart Castle (where some filming for Outlander – a grown-up show – took place). It was closing, so we didn’t go in. It was really old and not all of it was still there.

Sam:

We went to a place called Beauly for dinner. First, we saw an ancient Priory. It was near “The Friary,” a chippy where we bought our supper. LOL.

The Priory is an old church where monks lived. It had a graveyard surrounding it. The roof was gone. There was a cool-looking tree near the front that looked like it could have fairies living in it.

Charlotte:

We took our supper back to the airbnb where we were going to stay for the next two nights. (Mom drove in the UK for the first time.) I was excited because the airbnb was on a farm!

When we got there, I saw two sheep. I loved one of them so much because wherever I walked, it would follow. I named it Cloud. It snuggled against me when I petted it.

After dinner, we went to bed early because we were going on another adventure in the morning.
