A True British Castle

Sam:

When we got up in the morning, we decided to go to a place called Croft Castle, and when we got there after a 45 minute drive, we went on a hike in the grounds.

After we went on our walk, we went into the Croft Castle, which is bigger than 10x our house! When we got inside, the people that worked there gave us a map for a scavenger hunt in all of the different rooms. In one of the rooms there was an old pinball machine, but it was a board with pegs in it and it was one of my favourite things.

There was also a little classroom that we got to check out. The castle was used as a school during WWII because it was much safer than the actual school. Charlotte dressed up like a school girl from during the second world war. There was even a gas mask on the desk.

When we left the castle, we saw a sign that said there was a natural playground so we decided to check it out.

Charlotte:

We saw a stage in the woods. We were hungry, so we stopped and ate a snack on the benches that were for an audience. Next, we found a signpost with arrows pointing towards lots of fun things to do, so we followed the path. I started running and got to a big rope swing. It felt like I was flying! Dad, Mom, and Sam all tried it, too. We were having so much fun that we forgot to take a picture!

When Mom said it was time to move on, I ran further down the path and found lots of things to climb on, a tightrope, a public speaking area, more swings, and a cool dragon-shaped log. We played for awhile, and then we took a different route to get back to our car. Luckily, there were lots of blackberries on the path!

We drove to a town called Bromsgrove and went to a “chippy” to have fish and chips. They were scrumptious! I had mine with curry sauce. It is my favourite. Because Mom is allergic to fish, she had a steak and onion pie. She said it was good, too.

Sam:

After dinner we were walking around when we saw a place called Delightful Desserts, and since we didn’t have any dessert yet, we decided that we would check it out. When we saw the sign we knew that it was where we were having dessert. It had every dessert you could imagine! We ordered some ice cream, because we saw the flavors they had: vanilla, chocolate, and strawberry were the regular flavors but they had flavors I’ve never seen before, like Eton mess and chocolate swirl (eton mess is a dessert with whipped cream, meringue, and fruits, chocolate swirl is milk and white chocolate mixed). What flavours we had – Sam: Ferrero Rocher and toffee fudge, Dad: white chocolate and raspberry, Charlotte: banana and fruit salad, and Mom: chocolate cake and honeycomb.
