September 21-23
Jenn:
On Saturday, we kept our plans very casual. It was our last full day in Wychbold, so we needed to clean up our swap house. To break up the monotony, we took a walk to our host family’s allotment. On the way, we stopped at a great park, with a huge slide, a zipline, and lots more. The kids ran around for a bit and then we continued on.

When we found the allotment (which is a fruit and vegetable garden with sections for different people), we were in our raspberry-picking glory! We picked and picked (and snacked). Lucky us!
On Sunday, we traveled by Uber, train, and then 3 buses to St Andrews, Scotland. We left Wychbold at 9:45am and arrived at our new home-base at 10:45pm. It was a LONG day!
Monday, September 23 was our first day in St Andrews, Scotland. After picking up some groceries, we explored the town on foot. We followed a scenic path called the Viaduct walk, which led us to the city walls.

We meandered the old streets until we got to the St Andrews Cathedral. Wow! What a stunning ruin! We spent over an hour wandering through the gravestones and archways. Brad and Charlotte even went up the tower to get a view of the ocean.

We continued walking, choosing a path that we followed along the coast until it ended on a pier.

Then we walked in the other direction until we got to St Andrews University, the oldest university in Scotland and third oldest in Britain (after Oxford and Cambridge).
We enjoyed a grassy, walled courtyard outside of one of the university buildings and came out into an alley-like street called Butts Wynd (much to the kids’ delight).
