Sam:
Today we had a 4-hour road trip to an Airbnb in Cork where we will be staying for the next two nights. On the way, we had lunch in Ennis, which is a little town. Inside the restaurant there was a big bar. The food there was pretty good. I had fried plaice (a type of fish) and chips.

When we got to the Airbnb, the people were really nice and they have cats.

We left to see the Blarney Castle, but there wasn’t going to be enough time to climb it before closing, so we went to dinner instead. We had gelato for dessert. My flavours were mint and chocolate. They went pretty well together. My sister got blue raspberry, but it tasted like coffee.
We went to a park that had a zipline, and then we went back to our Airbnb.
Charlotte:
Today when I woke up, Mom told me that we were going on a four-hour trip. So, I got ready, packed my books and my clothes, and got into the car.
We went to lunch. I ate beans, chips, and sausages.

Then Mom and I were done eating, so we went out looking at some shops. We found this adorable jewelry store and then drove the rest of the way to the Airbnb. I was reading and then Mom told me stop and look out my window. There was a cool castle.
After that, I saw a fair. There was a beautiful girl, lots of stuff for sale, and tons of horses.

We dropped off our stuff and came back to the car to go to the Blarney Castle.
It was too late to go kiss the Blarney Stone, do then we went out for dinner in the Square in Blarney. We aye at Muskerry Arms. I ate chicken. When the guy playing soccer on TV got a goal, everyone screamed. Then we went to the park and played there for about half an hour.

I hope we don’t have to drive much tomorrow and that we go to Cork tomorrow.
Mom and Dad:
When we got up this morning, Brad and I looked at each other and decided we were ready to tackle a long drive. So, we woke the kids, had a quick brekkie, packed a bunch of clothes and snacks, and hit the road. Where to? Why, Cork, of course!
We booked an cute little Airbnb room just outside of Blarney and a hotel in Tralee and then we were off!
The first leg of our journey took us to the small city of Ennis in county Clare. We had a nice lunch at The Poet’s Corner and strolled down the narrow streets browsing some shops.

The remainder of our drive was uneventful, save for the horse festival being set up in the tiny town of Buttevant. Traffic was moving at a snail’s pace down the main road, as dozens of horses and hundreds of people (townspeople and vendors) meandered about. It was chaos! Brad compared the crowded rows of vendors to a very sub-par Kempenfest.

We were relieved to arrive at our Airbnb around 5:30pm. Our hosts, Ann and Eogann, seem lovely – they were very friendly and welcoming. Our room is tiny, but clean and cozy, with 4 single beds and an ensuite bathroom. A perfect little place to rest our heads!

We unpacked and then headed straight for Blarney Castle. The gate keeper recommended that we come back another time, as we would only have an hour to view the gardens and climb the castle. We opted to follow his advice and head into the Town square for dinner. We ate at a large pub called Muskerry Arms. The food was tasty and the atmosphere was fun – with England in the World Cup semi-final tonight, the bar area was packed with enthusiastic fans.

Notice the potato situation in the above photo – only in Ireland do you get potatoes two ways as side dishes for one meal!🇮🇪🥔🤣 Can’t say I’m sad about it though…
Tomorrow we plan to spend most of the day in Cork and hope to get back to Blarney Castle.
