Roaming Reykjavik

Charlotte:

Today I went to a museum. It was very cool! There were skeletons. One of the things my mom said, “oh, that’s so sad” to was a baby skeleton.

There were lots of things from the old days.

One of the things I saw was a wooden cabin. In the cabin was where they used to live. There were beds, a nightlight, things that made and kept lamb’s wool. Actually, the was a speaker and I could hear singing. It’s like the children were singing inside their house.

We had these papers with things to fill in like word searches and drawings – I drew a beautiful crown and a drinking horn.

There was a fun dress up room. I was a village and a fighter. The fighter suit was really heavy and made out of a metal called chainmail.

We went to a hotdog stand for lunch. I actually don’t usually like hot dogs, but I loved these lamb dogs! It was delicious!

Sam:

Today we went to a lot of cool things. A couple that I want to tell you about are..

First we went to a history museum. It showed how big a viking ship was and a model of a viking ship.

Then we walked all the way over to the biggest church in Iceland. It had about three pipe organs. One of them was ginormous! It took up most of a whole wall!

After, we went to a famous hot dog stand. In Iceland, hotdogs are called psyler and they’re made with lamb. The skin is tougher than our hotdogs. We all got hotdogs – even Charlotte, who don’t usually like hotdogs. Dad got a special type of mustard (it’s brown), remoulade, and ketchup.

We walked to the Harpa. It had thousands of glass windows that reflected the sunlight. They were hexagon shaped and they made colourful patterns on the ground.

On the way to the Viking ship statue, Charlotte and I built statues out of stones.

Then we walked to a statue of skeleton of a viking long ship made of metal. I liked climbing on it. Mom and Dad took lots of pictures.
