Sleep-Walking Towards Adventure

Yesterday, I went on the plane and I flew to Iceland. I was so excited for the take off because it was going to be so fun. And I held my mom’s hand.IMG_20170725_185746

The flight was very long, and it was over night, and I could not sleep! I only got one hour of sleep, but I usually get 10!IMG_20170725_235835

I was so excited to see my room! There are so many toys – I love playing with new stuff!

When we went out for a walk, I loved climbing on all the rocks.IMG_6445.JPG

After being in the plane all night, we arrived in Iceland this morning. I got a bit of sleep tonight but not that much. Luckily I wasn’t that tired today. Gudjon meet us at the airport, and drove us to his house where we will be staying.Ā IMG_20170725_235841

My favourite part of the house so far is that it’s pretty close to a park and it has a scooter just like at my house. I have my own room, too, filled with LEGO and other toys.

Once we got settled in, we went for a walk to the beach. Kids there were finding crabs – we looked for some, too, but we couldn’t find any.IMG_6453.JPG

Mom and Dad:

The flight on WOW Airlines was pretty good. We were surprised at how much legroom there was and how nice the flight attendants were. The only complaint was that we had to pay for all of our drinks, even water. The kids got very little sleep and we got even less.IMG_20170726_013347

We arrived in Iceland at about 5:20 and our fabulous host was there to pick us up from the airport and drive us to his beautiful apartment in Gardabaer, which is a suburb of Reykjavik.IMG_20170726_020043

We crashed in our comfy bed while the kids were exploring their new rooms and we had a nice long nap.

This afternoon we decided to explore the neighborhood, so we went out for a long walk along the coast and found a lovely little beach. The kids were thrilled to climb on rocks and look under them, searching for crabs, tiny shrimp, and mussels. The coastline is beautiful and the scenery is so very different from home. We can’t wait to continue exploring tomorrow – after a good night’s sleep.

Oh, and we had our first grocery store adventure! You may wonder how a trip to get groceries could classify as an adventure, but between trying to decipher Icelandic labels and driving in three large loops past the President’s home (accidently) while trying to get back home, we think it qualifies as such! Our “not tired at all” kids really enjoyed the scenery… šŸ˜‹IMG_20170726_123907
